MARS Solutions Group is looking for an experienced Project Manager located in Madison, WI. Our client is a government agency looking for high-quality talent to make a difference. They are known to respect a traditional work week and often extend contracts for added job security and stability.
Project Description:
Client is in the midst of a website redesign project that requires a PM resource to support it. We are looking for someone that has:
  • Experience managing projects using both waterfall and agile methodologies
  • Skilled at communication, negotiation, and facilitation with business and technology partners
  • Experienced project manager who has managed projects that deliver compliant and easy-to-use branded websites
  • These initiatives require a candidate to operate independently, think critically and provide leadership, quality assurance, alignment to vision/mission and follow-through on solutions to completion. 
  • The ideal candidate can work effectively with demanding end-users, solicit key requirements (must-haves) and formulate feasible/cost-effective solutions to meet the needs.
Critical Qualifications
This assignments minimally requires:
  • Education and experience with waterfall and agile approaches to project management.
  • Collaboration, team building and communications/follow-through skills.
  • Experienced project manager who has managed projects that deliver compliant and easy-to-use branded websites
Basic Qualifications (Must-Haves to be successful):
  • Strong knowledge of Project Management methodologies.
  • Ability to manage resources in a matrix environment.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Well-developed skills with Visio, MS-Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Experience working in a deadline-driven environment, handling and prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful project delivery.
  • Excellent conceptual, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team on complex tasks.
  • Demonstrated competency in documenting solutions for both technical and functional audiences.
  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors.
  • Knowledge about the development and design of websites including understanding of technical terminology and concerns about the UI/UX.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with stakeholders to define the scope and magnitude of the website redesign.
  • Work with technical leads to understand technical specifications, impact on existing environment/work and perform Business Case development and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis to guide decision-making.
  • Follow existing and/or establish appropriate change control processes to ensure work goes from Development to Testing to Production.
  • Facilitate and/or create relevant project related documents. Keep all project documentation updated and archived.
  • Develop, manage and control the project plan and schedule.
  • Facilitate meetings, provide meeting notes, and provide weekly status reports to both the project team and management.
  • Manage risks and issues, with the ability to understand the impacts and probabilities, and offer different solutions to the challenges.
  • Manage cross project dependencies and work well with other project managers.
  • Works collectively with technical leads and leadership to manage project budget and resources.
  • Gather key, understandable requirements to meet project activities.
  • Communicate with appropriate parties on project needs, progress, issues, risks and outcomes.
  • Manage, foster and develop team relationships.
  • Be an advocate for project management and help educate others on the processes and benefits/
  • Be a collaborative and transparent team member.

Education and Qualifications
  • 5 - 10 years of skills as a Project Manager
  • Demonstrable skills in use of Microsoft Project
  • Experience working with waterfall and agile methodologies.
Must Have Skills:
Experience in managing of large and complex projects
Experience in managing multiple, concurrent projects, activities and tasks under time constraints.
Experience in providing consultation, leadership and coordination for IT project related activities.
