The ideal candidate can work effectively with demanding end-users, solicit key requirements (must-haves) and formulate feasible/cost-effective solutions to meet the needs.
CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS This assignments minimally requires:
Education and experience with waterfall approaches to project management
Collaboration, team building and communications/follow-through skills.
Experience being the primary project manager for a data center migration with a proven track record of on time delivery.
Basic Qualifications (Must-Haves to be successful):
Strong knowledge of Project Management methodologies
Ability to manage resources in a matrix environment.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Well-developed skills with Visio, MS-Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Experienced working in a deadline-driven environment, handling and prioritizing multiple tasks.
Demonstrated track record of successful project delivery.
Excellent conceptual, problem solving, and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently or as a member of a team on complex tasks.
Demonstrated competency in documenting solutions for both technical and functional audiences.
Strong technical background of IT infrastructure including servers, storage, networks, databases and backups.
Proficient in data center setups including racks, floor plans, patch panels, HVAC, redundant power, cabling, etc.
Experience working with 3rd party vendors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the project planning and execution of the migration of infrastructure (servers, storage, networking and appliances) and applications from one data center to another.
Facilitate and/or create relevant project related documents. Keep all project documentation updated and archived.
Develop, manage and control the project plan and schedule.
Facilitate meetings, provide meeting notes, and provide weekly status reports to both the project team and management.
Manage risks and issues, with the ability to understand the impacts and probabilities, and offer different solutions to the challenges.
Manage cross project dependencies and work well with other project managers.
Works collectively with technical leads and leadership to manage project budget and resources.
Gather key, understandable requirements to meet project activities.
Communicate with appropriate parties on project needs, progress, issues, risks and outcomes.
Manage, foster and develop team relationships.
Be an advocate for project management and help educate others on the processes and benefits/
Be a collaborative and transparent team member.
