Database Administrator

MARS IT Corp. d/b/a MARS Solutions Group has an opening for a Database Administrator (Ref# DBA325HK) to work in Waukesha, WI and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.  Install, configure, administer, upgrade, and maintain mission critical databases that support vital business functions.  Execute detailed database tasks and create associated deliverables, including managing database storage, administering security and users, managing schema objects, monitoring database performance, scheduling and automating jobs, and performing backup and recovery.  Responsible for the installation, configuration, setup, and upgrade of DB2 LUW instances and databases.  Upgrade databases or migrate them to new environments as needed. Responsible for data modeling, including relational, dimensional, star and snowflake schema, and logical and physical data models.  Collaborate with other database administrators and engineers on database design, configuration, and performance issues.  Create, schedule, and configure data load job and automate administration task jobs.  Troubleshoot and provide subject-matter expertise on database incidents and long-term problem solutions.  Conduct database optimization and tuning.  Develop and test UNIX Shell Scripts to capture benchmarks for performance of database.  Create / review performance statistics reports and recommend changes for tuning database, server, and storage configurations.  Educate others to take on database tasks themselves, including effective use of query plans and other tools to improve database performance.  Use of DB2 LUW, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, IBM Data Studio, PL/SQL, T-SQL, Python, JavaScript, UNIX Shell Scripting, VB Scripts, Toad, Erwin, SQL Developer, C#, Visual Studio, Autosys, Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS), IBM Data Server Manager (DSM), UNIX, Linux, AIX, and Windows.  Travel and/or relocation required.
 
Requirements:  This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.  Plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or 2 years in a related occupation including Application Programmer or related experience.  Will accept a Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of progressive experience in lieu of the required education and experience.  Position requires 1 year of experience with database performance monitoring, database troubleshooting, database backup, DB2, Oracle, Data Studio, PL/SQL, Toad, Erwin, Autosys, TWS, UNIX, and Linux.  Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience as per the requirements cited herein.  40hrs/week.
