Duties:
Under the direction of the Manager of Environmental Services and according to established organizational and departmental policies and procedures, this individual is responsible for the supervision of all Environmental Services functions and services throughout the hospital and associated clinic. This individual assures that the facility is maintained in a manner that is consistent with organizational and customer expectations and standards regarding cleanliness, aesthetics, safety and infection control. Other duties as assigned.
Plans, develops, recommends implementation and monitors systems which assure the uninterrupted and efficient utilization of staff, supply and equipment resources to carry out Environmental Services operation in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness while promoting a cooperative effort with those accomplishing those activities.
In coordination with the Director and Technical Supervisor, performs and documents monthly Quality Inspections on each employee in the area of responsibility which track ongoing improvements department wide that meet or exceed JCAHO standards.
Monitors and evaluates inter and intradepartmental procedures and recommends change or adjustments which will improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of Environmental Services systems.
Responsible to guide and develop the Environmental Services Assistants through the training of quality assurance inspections and follow-up.
Assists in hiring, training, evaluating and disciplining of Environmental Services Assistants in all service areas of the department.
Responsible for the implementation of work assignments to assure that services are provided in a timely and efficient manner.
Assists in setting short and long term goals. Establishes priorities based on hospital and department objectives. Resolves and prevents problems by using good foresight, judgment and makes sound recommendations to the Director.
Accountable for the safety of all Environmental Service Assistants with investigation and corrective follow-up of all safety issues.
Maintains current knowledge and information regarding Environmental Services supplies and equipment and serves as a consultant to the user of those items.
Skills:
A minimum of four years experience in Environmental Services related activities and a thorough understanding of equipment, supplies and methods of utilization of the performance of those tasks is required.
Requires the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. May require standing and walking up to 80% of the day to adequately monitor the activities of staff.
Education:
High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
