Infrastructure Engineer

As an Automation Engineer, you will function as an Infrastructure engineer, focusing on database and Business Intelligence technologies. As a strategic thinker, you will move between diverse tasks with cooperation and persistence, helping to bring out the best in those around you. Critical to delivery is your ability to work as a collaborative team-member, lead through ambiguity, and willingness to relentlessly learn and improve yourself and those around you. You will also have the opportunity to learn and work with other database and BI technologies as architectural design and engineering needs arise.
§ Able to think outside the box to resolve complex incidents and problems
§ Experience with the application of database patches and upgrades
§ Demonstrated experience using project management methodologies 
§ Service Management (ITIL) 
§ Ability to influence architectural roadmaps for technology based on business needs and industry trends
Automation Experience Desired:
§ Understanding of infrastructure as a whole, including the tools for implementing infrastructure using automation, infrastructure as code. 
§ Identify and implement automation, self-help, and self-service opportunities within operational and engineering database related work
§ Collaborate with the overall team and other business areas to understand how automation can improve workflow.
§ Gather requirements from team members, customers or end-users to develop the best automation solutions
§ Automating processes and operational tasks
§ Proficient in technologies such as GitLab, Ansible/Tower, Jenkins, Nexus, Docker, UrbanCode

Technical Skills: 
§ Proficiency in HP-UX/Linux operating systems also desired (HPUX and Redhat Linux)
§ Ability to write and maintain complex shell and Python scripts for maintenance automation and testing. 
§ Experience resolving complex problems, logically and methodically
§ Ability to use good judgment for when and how to involve and communicate with vendors, internal teams, and management.
§ Ability to design, implement, and maintain Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and provide support for BCP exercises and actual disaster recovery.

Professional Skills:
§ Ability to drive innovation for system improvements, determine architectural and design best practices, find automation opportunities and guide proper use of new features
§ Competency in ITIL processes: Incident, Problem, Knowledge and Change Management
Awareness of Service Management target metrics
§ Ability to work in or along with agile teams by defining and planning work on a team backlog, and determining ways for the team to be successful in meeting its outcomes
§ Experience working in an Agile environment is preferred (i.e. SAFe, SCRUM, XP, Kanban)
§ Strong focus on teamwork and collaboration skills
§ Ability to work well with teams not centrally located
§ Ability and willingness to learn and develop new mindsets and skills
§ Ability to be self-directed and collaborative in ambiguous situations

Nice to Have: 
§ Friendly and approachable, with strong communication and presentation skills 
§ Desire to keep current with a challenging and evolving environment 
§ Applies established data management best practices and recommends improvements.
§ Experience with SQL Server or cloud DBMS technologies is preferred
