Mechanical Test Engineer

Individual serving in this role will operate as a member of one of the TDI starting product test teams. The product will be a high speed, pneumatic driven air turbine device connected to a gearbox speed reducer. The general technical direction will be provided by the lead technicians and test engineers assigned to the product.  The role will be as a test supporting element that will be assigned specific test setup, teardown and monitoring tasks in support of the objectives of the project team.
 
It will be the responsibility of the person serving in this role to complete the required technical activities in compliance with the quality and deliverable requirements provided by the test team leadership. It will also be the responsibility of this person to create all necessary reporting status documentation regarding the test efforts.
 
High school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of engineering test technical experience.
At least 2 years of experience in mechanical product development test environment.
 
Desired Qualifications
 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in testing, test evaluation, and a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working as a mechanic with reciprocating diesel engines and gas turbine engines
  • High mechanical aptitude
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proven time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work with non-test personnel on test matters
  • Ability to work in a demanding Research and Development (R&D) environment

  • Detail oriented Experience working with precision data transducers for both mechanical and electrical signal data acquisition
  • Experience working with high pressure pneumatic and hydraulic systems

 Responsibilities
 
  • Participate in recurring, cooperative test planning, and reporting activities
  • Take derection from Lead technicians, Test Engineers and TestGupLaer
  • Provide hands-on support to the technical teams through preparation and execution of test set-up and test execution and test teardown
  • Record required test information as designated in test plans or as directed by lead technicians and test engineers
  • Abide by and provide necessary improvement support for existing AS9100 Quality System
  • Assist in the general maintenance, upkeep, and improvement in the lab and its capabilities by ensuring that the systems and equipment are functioning properly
  • Ensure proper safeguards are established and maintenance performed for all equipment required for purposes of testing and testing support
