Maintenance Associate BASIC FUNCTION: This is a position responsible for the building's preventive maintenance, repair and project work which supports the multimillion-dollar North American Nuclear Medicine Business. It is the responsibility of this position to adhere to internal Quality Policies, Procedures and cGMPs as they pertain to the position to ensure that all Amersham products are safe, pure, effective and of the highest quality. The Maintenance Associate will have interaction with many departments and daily exposure with the Health Physics, Manufacturing and Engineering departments. He or she is expected to assist the department Team Leader / Maintenance Manager in managing the daily work loads. The technician is expected to remain current on best practices and technology standards. This will be provided, as the business permits, through training courses or conferences such as BMS (Building Management Systems) training. (Travel will be required). Essential Responsibilities  Responsible for the preventive maintenance and repair of the building and its support systems.  Performs maintenance and repairs in the following areas: Plumbing Carpentry Mechanics Electrical wiring  Does minor site installation and construction.  Performs preventive maintenance, repairs and replacement of manipulators that are used in the production hot cells.  Assists other maintenance and engineering personnel projects and maintenance and repair when necessary.  Routinely test, trouble shoots and performs maintenance on building through handling and temperature control system (Siemens Building Management System).  Team player within the Maintenance department and throughout the corporation.  Installing and servicing of lighting control devices for the facility both inside and out.  Responsible for site compliance with radiation procedures, including individual dose management.  Maintain and service process water/D.I. water systems: (Controls, Pumps, Sensors, Valves, and Tanks). (Marginal Responsibilities)  Support the Instrument Technician with production equipment issues.  Project support for the installation of new systems and/or equipment. Physical and Visual Activities: Physical and visual activities that are commonly associated with the performance of the responsibilities of this position. Requires depth perception and ability to distinguish colors for his/her job function. Physical Demands: Physical demands commonly associated with the performance of the responsibilities of this position. Maintenance Associate must be able to climb ladders (using a standard A-frame ladder) and stairs; Wear protective clothing and respirators. Routinely lift and/or move 50 lbs.; Maintain a stationary position for short periods of time; Have the ability to be flexible with his/her schedule; and required overtime (extended shifts and/ or weekends). Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the responsibilities of this position. There is occupational exposure to ionizing radiation (would go through site training and will be wearing monitoring devices). Potential exposure to fumes or airborne dust particles, caustic or toxic chemicals, extreme temperatures, and moderate noise level. Routinely work in sterilized controlled environments. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: (How much supervision received or use "Degrees of Delegation") As a Maintenance Associate, he/she will be expected to perform routine preventive maintenance and or repairs on a wide range of facility equipment with little or no supervision. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: (Number and title of employees supervised, either directly or indirectly; Guidance given; Policy involvement) A Maintenance Associate will be responsible for keeping the Team leader/Maintenance manager up to date on the status of his/her workload. While on-call (after hours and weekends) be able to make reasonable decisions on working safely, getting the product out the door and notifying the proper personnel when needed The highlighted text below is very important.!! KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: (What knowledge is a must to be hired into this job at the entry level) A Maintenance Associate must have a basic knowledge in electrical, pneumatics, plumbing and HVAC. Knowledgeable on trouble shooting an electrical circuit down to device level and make the necessary repairs. Ability to read electrical schematic drawings. Working knowledge of English necessary to understand training documents/directions, to record log entries and to complete maintenance documentation. The candidate must also be mechanically inclined in the following areas: Bearing, Hydraulics and Welding. EDUCATION PREFERRED: (What education level is preferred to be hired into this?) 2,3 1. Less than High School 2. High School Diploma or GED – experienced using computers as they will enter information in GE systems 3. Specialized Training – has experience as a maintenance worker who has skills as defined in posting. Any certificates or technical training with HVAC/Pump, etc… in related field is a huge+++ 4. Associates Degree 5. Bachelors Degree 6. Masters Degree 7. Doctorate Degree Note that this is the preferred level of education that a person would normally have to be able to fully perform the duties and responsibilities.
