Oracle Application Architect
Provide architectural and big picture oversight for development of a legacy lab certification database that serves multiple programs, DNR Divisions and WI Laboratories. Responsible for ensuring quality and consistency of the software architecture across the system and providing day-to-day technical guidance to the Certification Services Section. The Laboratory Certification database tracks laboratory certification for testing parameters, audit schedules, lab contacts, and proficiency testing results. It cross checks with other department databases to confirm proper certification when sample results are submitted to the department. The Lab Certification database is currently using an older unsupported technology that will be eliminated by December 1, 2018. The IT system needs to be rewritten using a newer, supported technology. This application currently utilizes Fusion Middleware Designer Web PL/SQL. Mod PL/SQL has been deprecated in the next supported version of Oracle Fusion Middleware that the enterprise wishes to move to. Due to the complexity of the application, we need to begin rewriting the application in a different supported programming language prior to the elimination of the unsupported server. This application is used daily by internal staff. Without this application, staff would lose the ability to track laboratory certification. Define the system, technical, and application architectures for major areas of development and recommend course of action to maintain cost effectiveness and competitiveness. Stay up-to-date on business initiatives and objectives, particularly as these relate to infrastructure and development architecture issues. Research and implement best practices frameworks/capability models that will control costs, provide higher quality, and/or increase predictability of service delivery. Research new technology and development tools to remain abreast of current and emerging technology.Conducts routine tasks as directed.
